Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher going into my third year. I have taught English and Maths across all secondary year groups and levels for two years, and also taught all levels during my PME. I completed my English degree in 2018, my PME in 2023 and I am undertaking my Mathematics degree with UL and on track to achieve a 1.1 honours degree. I am passionate about helping students reach their potential both academically and personally. Alongside teaching, I have facilitated extracurricular clubs such as film and drama at my school, and I bring creativity, patience, and structure into every learning environment.

Tutoring Experience:

I currently teach English and Higher Level Maths at a secondary school in South Dublin, where I have worked with students from 1st to 6th year. I have supported students through Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate exams, which saw them surpass their initial expectations and achieve strong grades. I also serve as a Class Teacher, supporting students in both their academic and personal development while maintaining strong communication with parents. Previously, I gained extensive experience teaching English and Maths in Monaghan, where I am from. While there, I also led clubs, provided learning support, and delivered creative workshops. My teaching career has been enriched by facilitating school trips, running a successful film club, and integrating digital resources to make learning engaging and accessible.

Approach to Grinds:

My approach to grinds is student-centred, focusing on building confidence and understanding in a supportive environment. I aim to simplify complex concepts by breaking them down into clear, step-by-step instructions, while also encouraging students to think critically and independently. For English, I guide students in improving their comprehension, essay writing, and exam technique, tailoring lessons to their individual goals. This may include focus on particular comparative tools, essay writing or developing their understanding of genre. I also provide detailed feedback on essays handed in for correction. For Maths, I use interactive strategies, real-life examples, and structured practice to strengthen problem-solving skills. I use digital tools to assist students in visualising a problem and support them in recognising processes to achieve results. This is all backed up with a series of notes and mock exam paper questions students can complete at home for additional practice. I believe in fostering a positive mindset so students not only improve their grades but also develop long-lasting learning habits.

*I aim to offer Leaving Certificate Maths grinds (HL and OL) later in the year.
