A Level Results are here at last!
After months of hard work, finally the long awaited A level results have arrived. Congratulations to all students that have managed to achieve the results they were hoping for, not forgetting the private tutors who have been dedicating their time, knowledge and passion for tutoring to make this possible.
Here at First Tutors we love reading all the wonderful feedback we receive from happy parents who describe their joy and gratitude for finding the perfect tutor for their teenagers via First Tutors. We are happy too!
Thomas from Brighton who sourced a tutor for A- level maths has just sent us the following feedback this morning: "First tutors have really helped my child by providing an excellent maths tutor . If l require a tutor for any subject I would always search on First Tutors." .
John from Hampshire who found a tutor for A level Psychology says: "The two tutors I have arranged from this site have been nothing short of perfect. Many many thanks First Tutors!"
Below are key stats for 2017 A level results:
- A*and A grades were awarded to 26.3% of entries across all subjects, up 0.5% compared to last year.
- In the reformed subjects tested in England for the first time this summer sixth formers had fewer top grades, with A and A*s down by 0.7 percentage points compared with 2016.
- For the first time since 2010 boys outperformed girls in achieving A-A* grades, gaining 26.6% A and A* compared with 26.1% for girls. However, girls did better in the reformed subjects with 7.3% awarded the highest A* grade compared with 7* of boys, while the A and A* grades combined were the same for both at 24.3%
- National data reveals that university applications are down 2% this year but apprenticeship applications have risen.
- There are still plenty of places at university, UCAS university admissions body say that 416,000 places have so far been confirmed which is 2% down on last year.
For those students who didn't receive the grades they expected don't despair, it's not the end of the world and there are plenty of options. You could perhaps consider finding a course through clearing, retaking your exams or even changing your career direction all together. This year's stats reveal that more students are opting to take on an apprenticeship rather than going to university. Whatever your choice, if you have a dream or passion don't let your less than perfect exam results stop you.
