Hi,
I’ve been a teacher for 5 years now and just starting out on my journey towards tutoring. I have great classroom skills and have made rapid progress with my students at GCSE level, obtaining great results.
I was teaching up in Manchester, but recently relocated near Dudley and teaching at a GOOD school. I have positive relationships with my students
I studied up in Manchester and after finishing my degree I went on to teach in Ghana for the summer, helping students improve on their English skills. I later went on to complete my PGCE and then finished my Masters in Education another two years later.
I stayed up in Manchester to teach at a school I loved. I recently relocated to be closer to family and absolutely love the school I’m now at as well.
I have finished my NPQML in leadership too.
The approach I take is very much the same that I take with my students in class. I like to model and scaffold for the students slowly taking away the support to build their confidence up in becoming independent. I use assessment to ensure my lessons are adapted to fit the needs of the pupil.
I always take the time to build positive relationships with my learners to ensure I am building their confidence and they are happy to be there and learning.
I also rely on questioning to support the students, so they are thinking on their own while I guide them to the correct solution. This helps to again build their confidence, making them realise they can find the answer themselves.
I strongly believe in independence, but this can only be obtained through time and very carefully structured lessons, which is why I will take the time to ensure that my planning fits the needs of the learner.
Eventually, over time I hope to build a strong, resilient, independent learner that can reach their full potential. A confident student is a happy student.
