I am a positive, motivated and dedicated individual who has recently come out of full time employment to combine what I love with the work I do: this includes doing more 1:1 tuition, writing and training as a coach in positive psychology. I am also an avid photographer and enjoy cycling in my spare time.
I have been an English teacher for the past fifteen years (5 years at Ringmer Academy, Lewes, 2 years Blatchington Mill, Hove 1 year teaching English in Taiwan and 7 years Supply across the county). I have extensive knowledge working with students of all abilities within KS3, KS4 (GCSE) and KS5 (A Level). As well as being a classroom teacher, I have worked with small groups and one to one tuition (in school and privately) to prepare students in both ability and confidence to do their best for their English literature/language assessments and GCSEs.
I am an exam marker for two nationwide exam boards which has given me an inside knowledge and confidence with understanding the GCSE exam questions and offering tips and strategies for students to use to confidently answer these.
I understand with one to one tuition it is essential the student feels relaxed and comfortable with the tutor. Therefore, I make an initial online or face to face visit to meet the student and discuss terms and conditions with you; from this point, the student can decide if it feels right to go ahead with tuition.
Above all, the individual needs of the student are paramount and my aim is to help them progress, gain confidence and develop at least an appreciation (if not a love) for the subject of English!
I am available to tutor Monday to Friday late afternoons & evenings. Weekend tuition can be discussed upon enquiry.
