Having embarked on my teaching journey in 2011, my passion for mathematics education has driven me to assume increasingly impactful roles. Over the years, I've served as the Head of KS3 Maths and KS5 Maths, contributing significantly to the academic growth and development of students. Since 2017, I've proudly held the position of Head of Maths, spearheading initiatives that have played a pivotal role in our school's exceptional 'outstanding' rating from OFSTED. Situated in the vibrant educational landscape of the West Midlands, I find immense satisfaction in shaping young minds and fostering a deep appreciation for the beauty of mathematics. My commitment extends beyond the traditional classroom, as I actively engage in current research on teaching pedagogies. This ongoing exploration allows me to stay at the forefront of educational practices, ensuring I continually evolve in my role to provide the best possible support for my students.
With over 12 years of dedicated teaching and tutoring experience in mathematics, I take pride in the significant impact I've had on my students' academic journeys. Throughout my career, I have successfully taught and tutored a diverse range of students, witnessing their remarkable progress and achievements. Many of my students have secured coveted destinations, including Oxbridge, York, Durham, Warwick, Loughborough, and Nottingham. It's immensely fulfilling to have supported aspiring individuals who have gone on to pursue careers as doctors, nurses, accountants, actuaries, and teachers. My teaching expertise spans across various levels, including KS3, GCSE Foundation and Higher, GCSE Statistics, Level 2 Further Maths, Core Maths, and A Level Maths. Embracing modern technology, I leverage platforms such as Microsoft Teams for tutoring, ensuring a seamless and effective learning experience for my students.
In addition to my extensive teaching and tutoring background, I am excited to announce that I am currently offering group sessions for GCSE and A Level Maths. These specialised programs, conducted weekly, provide a collaborative and cost-effective learning environment at an introductory rate of £20 per session. This unique opportunity allows students to engage in collective learning experiences, fostering a sense of community and shared academic growth. To further support individualized progress, students enrolled in the group sessions can also avail themselves of 1:1 tutoring sessions at a discounted rate of £40. This ensures a comprehensive learning journey tailored to each student's needs, combining the benefits of group dynamics with personalised attention for optimal academic success.
My teaching approach is centered on the joy of witnessing students' rapid progress and the transformative growth of their confidence. A strong advocate for continuous professional development (CPD), I frequently attend sessions to refine my teaching techniques. Embracing modern technology, I recently delved into the effective use of Desmos during a CPD session, exploring its potential to enhance mathematical understanding. I believe in hands-on learning and frequently incorporate manipulatives into my lessons, fostering a visual and interactive approach to exploring mathematical concepts. Identifying and addressing misconceptions is a crucial aspect of my methodology, as I am dedicated to supporting students in building robust foundations. By ensuring a solid understanding of fundamental concepts, I aim to create an environment where new learning can take root and thrive, ultimately setting the stage for students' enduring success in mathematics.
