I tutor for A-level Drama and LAMDA exams; and coach the speech performances for Drama School Entrance, Auditions, Castings and Character work. I have 10 years of experience as a qualified post-16, pre-University Lecturer and lifelong educator in Performing Arts. I live in Richmond upon Thames.
I have been teaching Acting for 15 years, of which the last 10, as a UCL qualified post-16 Lecturer in Performing Arts. I have taught at the Actors Centre, the UK's leading professional actors' development organisation, at a dozen of West End venues, including Pineapple, Danceworks and most of the leading theatres, as well as at the FE colleges, delivering the BTEC Diplomas in Acting and preparing young people for the entry into the HE and Drama Schools. I have 20 years of experience as a professional Actress, including the performances with The Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Court Theatre, The Almeida, Southwark Playhouse, Riverside Studios, Cardboard Citizens and many others; TV Drama appearances in Prime Suspect, Doctors and The Bill and, more recently, voiceover work on the audio books for the RNIB, Penguin and my own company Sharp Eared Owl, including the work on the award-winning trilogy Sleeping Giants.
I am a highly experienced Arts & Entertainment professional and a specialist Acting and Theatre Making teacher.
All my tutorials are meticulously planned, to suit the individual need of the learner. To this end, I give 30-40 min of FREE consultation prior to the first lesson, to ascertain the needs and goals, as well as give the learner an opportunity to meet me.
For the qualification oriented tutorials, I aim at the top mark with all learners, but adjust my in-lesson teaching, to follow the learner's strengths and support the growth of the weaknesses, with the base exercises, designed to strengthen the fundamental learning abilities.
Above all, I enjoy teaching. My sessions are engaging, practical and geared towards the learner's age and personality. I apply all of my personal and professional skills, to keep the focus and move the progress, every minute of the hour.
In the end, it is the outcome and success of the learner that shows the efficacy of my teaching, so this is the compass I go by, in improving my approach and maintaining the standards.
