I am a secondary science teacher with over five years of experience delivering group and one-to-one tuition to students aged 5-17. My passion for teaching was acknowledged by Lambeth Schools Council, who nominated me for the “Promising New Teacher” award in 2021. My Professional Diploma in Education paired with my experience has equipped me with the knowledge to deliver successful outcomes for my tutees. I aim friendly and driven and aim to inspire my tutees and build confidence in their knowledge and abilities.
I have over five years of tutoring experience, having tutored whilst completing my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at King’s college London and achieving my PGDE qualification at University College London. I have tutored a range of clients aged 11 - 17 delivering Maths and Science lessons from KS2 - KS5 level. I was able to help my most recent client attain a 6 5 in Combined Science GCSE from a U grade in their mock exams.
I use the 'Chunk, Chew, Check' pedagogical approach to build scientific and mathematical knowledge with my tutees. They focus of this approach is to foster a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of a topic and regularly testing knowledge, before applying that knowledge to novel scenarios through exam style questions. A major barrier to success for many students is knowledge retention and application. My teaching approach tackles allows students to overcome this barrier and engage in study techniques they can utilise independently.
