As a former English Teacher, I have extensive English experience gained over a wide range of schools and am now looking to start tutoring full time.

My BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature was gained from the Open University and my PGDE teaching qualification was from Aberdeen University.

Based in the village of Alford, I am available for face to face sessions, or via Zoom.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught a wide range of texts for National 5 and Higher. I have both teaching and tutoring experience covering Close Reading, Scottish Texts and Critical essay writing.

I believe in breaking down the question papers to allow candidates understand what is being asked of them, and how they can get maximum marks. With practise pupils can begin to recognise the question types and how to tackle them.

Before I became a teacher, I was involved in training staff with various pharmaceutical companies for sales roles across the UK.

Tutoring Approach

I will aim to help you with an individually tailored approach to your needs. I believe that a 'one size fits all' approach does not work.

If you are wanting tutored for an upcoming exam, I will cover what the SQA are looking for, this will enable you to answer questions much more efficiently and gain maximum marks. I can also help with advice on how best to revise your texts.

Most pupils come to my house; however, I am willing to travel within Alford by arrangement.
