I have extensive teaching experience in schools as a Science teacher, specialising in Chemistry, and at university as a lecturer in Organic Chemistry. I am a member of the Tutors Association.
I have a BSc (Hons.) degree and PhD in Chemistry. I have taught Science as a fully qualified teacher for secondary school education since 2006 and am a qualified Higher Education lecturer. I enjoy tutoring and my students have all benefited enormously from individualised support in preparation for their examinations.
Please note all tuition is conducted online or face-to-face at my home.
At A Level I have taught the entire Chemistry course, my students have taken the AQA, Edexcel and OCR examinations and achieved the highest grades. I have helped student prepare for Oxbridge interviews through extension lessons beyond the A level specification, and coached students for technical interviews.
I have taught Chemistry, Biology and Physics to GCSE in schools for the AQA and the Edexcel IGCSE specification.
I have also taught introductory chemistry for non-specialist undergraduate students, as well as organic chemistry and analytical chemistry to students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. More recently I have coached verbal and non-verbal reasoning for 11+ entry examinations.
Please note all tuition is conducted online or face-to-face at my home.
I base my tutoring on the student's needs, developing their prior knowledge, building confidence in their learning and problem solving skills whilst developing exam technique.
At the moment all tuition is at my home or is online using Skype or Zoom for audio and a video link. I use an interactive whiteboard that permits PDF/Power Point slides and electronic documents to be used during lessons. A PDF of all the pages is downloaded for students to help them with note taking and as for revision in the future. Additional help sheets and practice questions can be supplied to help with developing learning and exam technique.
I develop the student's learning experience at school or university and provide both additional resources and practice questions. My students are encouraged to develop their knowledge and an appreciation of what examiners require by developing their assessment for learning skills.
Please note all tuition is conducted online or face-to-face at my home.
