Having tutored full time for over three years I am now tutoring on a part-time basis. In recent years I have been a Geography tutor at Imperial College London and Dean Close School during three A Level revision courses, and more recently I have worked with private sixth forms to provide one-to-one tuition on site. I also have experience providing one-to-one home schooling, covering an entire syllabus over several months with fantastic results. I am very familiar with AQA, Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, and OCR syallbuses.
Some of my more recent feedback from students is as follows:
Katherine - I have been very impressed with the work Alex has been doing with my son. From the start he was well prepared, asked all the right questions when starting, so that he could gain insight into how best he could support. He brings an enthusiastic energy to the subject and has an engaging approach when tutoring.
Maath - Alex is an amazing geography tutor, he makes you love the subject and explains it clearly. 100% would recommend this tutor. If u have have him as a tutor you will definitely ace your exams.
Christina - Just the right tutor for my son (A-Level Geography -here specially physical geography). He really enjoys it. Alex has a fantastic approach and seems to have the appropriate speed and challenge in teaching my son. We booked double lessons 1 x week and he said it is the perfect amount of time to "get through stuff" before his exams. Definitely would recommend Alex as a tutor.
My main focus is trying to spark a genuine interest within the student for the subject. I do so by demonstrating my own enthusiasm, and showing the different applications various subjects have to the real world - as I understand textbook learning can sometimes feel dull and not relevant to the 'real world'. I then try to focus on the student's weaker subject areas first, determining where exactly the issues are stemming from. Once addressed, I then work with the student to solidify their stronger areas to help build their overall confidence in the subject.
