I contacted Alex to request Physics tutoring support for my son throughout the summer break period - in preparation for school exams used for predicted A-level grades Alex was great right from the get go - being flexible and very approachable. My son was a little apprehensive - knowing that an unfamily person was would be offering tutor lessons. The apprehansion very quicky faded, though, as Alex's style made him feel very at ease and they delved straight into the topics.

There was quite some initial dialog with Alex in order for him to gain an understanding of where focus/support should be given. Cricially, he listend to the thoughts and concerns and offered an approach that aligned with the feedback prodvided by the school subject teachers. Ultimately, my son confidence grew significantly over the summer period through Alex's guidance and support and he acheived an A* result in the start of year exams - a significant improvement from the C grade he achieved in the L6 end of year exam.

The likelihood is that we'll be reaching out to Alex once more closer to the A-level exams to help plug any knowledge gaps and solidify understanding of topic areas.

Alex has been tutoring my daughter A level physics since Sept 2022. After the very first lesson, my daughter was certain that she wanted to continue receiving lessons.
He helped her to prepare for the PAT for Oxford entrance initially. Even though she did not get an interview, she did score well on the exam and the lessons with Alex were excellent preparation.
In addition, ongoing lessons with Alex have helped my daughter make faster progress on this course. When she started the lessons, she was teacher assessed at B/C. On the last mock exam she achieved A* and was the highest performing student in her class.
Alex has been very reliable and even offered extra sessions in the Easter break too. His tutoring methods are clearly very effective and have really helped my daughter understand the course concepts much more clearly.
My daughter is hoping to go onto degree level physics next. At one point, she wavered in her decision in favour of maths. However, as the time with Alex increased, her grades did too and now she is in a strong position to continue on with her initial choice.
In conclusion, I can recommend Alex, without any reservation, as an outstanding A level physics tutor.

Finding Alex is the best move we have ever made! Our son was very disappointed with his A level maths grade (d) after being given a predicted grade (b). he wanted to re-sit his exam but seemed unclear on how to improve because so much work had been missed during lockdown. Revision on his own didn't give him any clearer answers either and he became increasingly despondent about the whole thing. Alex has stepped in and boosted his confidence enormously, explaining things clearly whilst going through test papers together. Our son regularly comes out of his lesson saying "it's amazing, I understand that bit now, the school never explained that… etc etc". He gets on very well with Alex who is friendly and very easy for him to talk to. Alex is always punctual and happy to fit in extra lessons when asked. We really couldn't recommend him highly enough.

Alex is a brilliant tutor, I can't recommend him highly enough. He worked with my son on A Level Maths and Physics all the way through the covid period, through lockdowns and when school resumed (in all about 18 months). He was patient, understanding brilliant at explaining things, thorough - just a fantastic teacher.

Alex is a really experienced tutor who is currently helping our 15 year old daughter for her physics GCSE/mock exams. He has provided a wide range of resources, and helped her to comprehend and visualise each question step by step, all while as sticking to the syllabus. This has really boosted her confidence. Alex tutored my son during his last years of A levels for physics. We were very impressed with his approach and results. He managed to get my son from a D/E result to a B/C result by the end of the year with the first months focused on revision of the first year and ensuring the foundation was there. He tested comprehension with a set of mock exams over the christmas period. Then he moved on the second year of A levels. Always patient, explaining the concepts well, sending revision sheets, practice papers, providing homework… regular feed-back also to parents on how it is going which I really appreciated. We had a very open and trusting relationship. As a result of Alex's excellent approach, my son is now starting at the course of his choice in mechanical engineering. I really recommend this tutor!

Alex is great. He really helped my daughters confidence with the harder questions in Physics and Maths GCSE. He understood and worked to the GCSE spec very well. Alex was clear in demonstrating concepts using an online whiteboard which was really helpful as my daughter is dyslexic so meant she could unpick problems or topics visually as well as using text books. Alex always communicated well, was flexible when needed and professional. We hope to continue with Alex for A levels.

Alex has been a fantastic tutor for our son, who missed 12 months of school and core elements of the maths GCSE curriculum (due to ill health). Alex not only helped our son catch up on a vast amount of work, he also tutored him in a way which enabled our son to fully understand all aspects of maths, and to build his confidence as a mathematician. Over the course of the tutoring, our son completely changed his negative feelings about maths in to positive ones. Our son also completely engaged with the interactive technology that Alex uses, and has even used some of these tools for other subjects. Before Alex came on board, our son was predicted to achieve a Grade 5 in maths, however, he achieved a grade 8 (equivalent to A*). Alex is an excellent tutor, with a clear, calm and accurate approach, and we can’t thank him enough.

Alex has been an excellent tutor across Physics, Chemistry and Maths GCSE (WJEC) over the past year. He has been extremely flexible with timings when needed, and has gone over and above to ensure that there are materials that my son can refer to outside lessons. My son Zak has found his physics sessions really useful and he now understands topics he struggled with very clearly. Alex is super efficient and also sends notes from the session through afterwards which is very useful. He’s a great tutor!

Alex is very professional and efficient in his approach but is also able to relate well to my son and gets his undivided attention for maths sessions. My son seems to be back on track with his maths now and i am hoping that Alex can continue to guide him through to a good result in May 2018.

My son has only had two sessions with Alex so far, but he (son) seems positive. I shall leave feedback later once he's had more time. I have not sat in (A2 Physics) but Alex appears to be efficient and organised and provides whiteboard notes from the session.

A Brilliant Tutor… Dr Alex Veary- has a very engaging style of tuition. Each lesson is impeccably thought out with references :) ! Probably one of the best tutors we have had todate. My son is really enjoying his A level Physics tuition… I would recommend Alex without hesitation.

Alex was a superb tutor. He tutored my son for a number of sessions in the half term immediately before his IGCSE chemistry exam. My son had very little idea of the subject before hand but obtained a real understanding of the subject in those few sessions.
