I have a Biological Sciences degree from Oxford University and then I completed my PGCE year at Southampton. I was so inspired by my own Science teachers at school and seeing a child make a breakthrough in understanding makes teaching such an enjoyable role.
My background is 21 years full time Science teaching predominantly in prep schools. I have taught mainly to CE and Scholarship level preparing pupils for entry in to schools such as Eton, Radley and Wellington. My most recent position was Head of Science for the last 4 years.
Being passionate about Science, I always put a great deal of effort and imagination in to planning. Using a range of strategies which extend and develop all abilities, I aim to make knowledge equally accessible to each individual pupil, guiding their progression and enjoyment to its fullest potential in a stimulating environment.
I have always encouraged my pupils to develop a keen desire to explore the world around them by increasing the relevance of Science to everyday contexts to promote interest, motivation and enthusiasm for the subject. I have also incorporated as much practical work in to my lessons to make the concepts as tangible as possible.
With my own commitment, enthusiasm and organisational skills, I aim to promote these qualities in the pupils I teach…..to strive to be the best they can be and to develop a love of Science and an appreciation of the way in which it is everywhere around them that will hopefully last a lifetime.
