I am a professional scientist with PhD in Bioengineering in 2022 after graduating from UCL in Biochemical Engineering with a final classification of first honours (A* and As in A-levels - Biology, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Further Maths). I work as a professional biophysics scientist in the cross-section of Artificial Intelligence and Fluid Dynamics. I am also a self-taught Pianist. Tutoring is a side hustle I have pursued over the past ten years as a way to increase my income and give back to the community. Over the years, My enthusiasm to learn has driven me to teach and help students overcome their weaknesses, whether you are a struggling student who has a hard time understanding the topics, or an above-average student who wishes to push further and achieve a better grade. My experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm in Maths and Science have not only allowed me to achieve my goals but to pass on my knowledge and experience to others who could benefit from it.
Prior to my undergraduate degree in 2013, I took a gap year when I started teaching Maths and Science given my outstanding A-level results. It was during this period that I started to teach myself to play the piano. It has been almost 10 years that I have been teaching Maths and Science and I have taught more than 500 hours to more than 50 pupils. I can guarantee notable improvements given the student works only two hours a week on the homework I assign to them. I have also 2 years of experience teaching the piano to casual learners.
I am capable of recognising each student's learning style (visual, auditory or read/write) while adapting my teaching routine accordingly. The first session will begin with the student attempting questions of different difficulty levels so I can evaluate his/her capabilities. Depending on the student's learning style, the lessons will involve solving problems and visual material while asking them to take notes and create flash cards. I tend to provide real-life applications of the topics. At times and depending on the student, I may choose to explain topics outside of the national syllabus that I believe are crucial for better understanding the topics.
