Hello, I’m a friendly and approachable GCSE Chemistry teacher who loves going to the gym, traveling, and making revision TikToks to help students engage with science in fun ways. With a First-Class Honours Master’s degree in Chemistry and a PGCE in Secondary Science, I’ve spent the last five years teaching AQA GCSE Science, with a focus on chemistry, and I also teach KS3 Science. My experience as a qualified personal trainer helps me emphasise resilience and motivation, both in the classroom and beyond. Additionally, my experience with examining provides me with valuable insights and tools to provide feedback on exam techniques.
Over the past five years, I have taught GCSE Chemistry (both Combined Science and Separate Science at higher and foundation levels), as well as GCSE Biology and Physics. My diverse experience allows me to support students across different scientific disciplines and adapt my teaching strategies to meet their needs. I began tutoring during my university years, where I discovered my enthusiasm for one-on-one teaching and have since honed my skills in the classroom and as an examiner. I have also taught KS5 A-Level Chemistry for the AQA exam board.
When it comes to tutoring, I believe in being organised, patient, and a little bit dynamic! I focus on the tricky parts of chemistry, like quantitative calculations, electrolysis, and bonding concepts. My method includes clear explanations, concrete examples, and lots of interactive questioning to make sure students really understand the material.
I believe in the power of dual coding, using diagrams alongside explanations to reinforce learning. Retrieval practice is a cornerstone of my lessons, revisiting earlier topics to solidify knowledge. I assess progress through various methods, including extended writing pieces, exam questions, and engaging whiteboard activities.
My ultimate goal is to help students build resilience and confidence, showing them that with hard work, nothing is unattainable. I strive to create lessons that are stimulating and relatable, often sprinkling in some humor and real-life examples to keep things engaging. Positive framing and rewards are my go-to’s for motivating students to put in their best effort.
Outside of teaching, I’m all about maintaining balance in life through fitness and travel. I’m dedicated to providing high-quality, differentiated resources that align with the GCSE specification, making sure every student has what they need to thrive. Together, we can unlock your potential and tackle chemistry with confidence!
