Hi my name's Alison. I am an ex Head of Science Faculty in Preston and also Bolton. I am a qualified teacher with many years of both teaching and tutoring. I was educated in Manchester and received a BSc Hons in 2000. I completed my PGCE the following year at Edge Hill College. I have full DBS clearance to work with students.

Tutoring Experience

I was a leading teacher with City of Salford within 2 years of qualification. The next year I moved school to take on responsibility to bring enrichment into Science lessons. I became Deputy Head of Science and the following year I became Head of Science. I have gained a vast amount of experience and expertese in teaching all 3 Sciences and specialise in helping pupils to achieve their potential. As an Advanced Skills Teacher I have the ability to bring innovative and interesting interactive learning experiences to pupils at all levels and all stages of education.

Allow me to assist your child to realise that they can succeed and with hard work anything is possible. I am very proud that I have a 100% pass rate. All of my entrance exam pupils have successfully entered their chosen grammar schools with scholarships. All of my GCSE students have improved their grades in Science. Many of my A level Biology students have gone on to study medicine, dentistry or pharmacology at the university of their choice. My Key stage 3 students have all achieved their full potential and my feed back reflects their success. My approach to teaching is a combination of traditional methods from the classroom and modern innovative interactive methods that pupils will remember as an enjoyable learning experience. I encourage pupils that I tutor to have fun whilst learning which ensures that they eagerly look forward to their next tutor session. As my students progress and celebrate their achievement their confidence grows and they flourish in the knowledge that they are meeting their targets and in most cases exceeding them. I take tremendous pride in creating strong professional relationships with my pupils and their families. I invest a huge amount of my time preparing lessons and I can help your child to excel by exam technique and past paper experience, guiding through common mistakes and teaching how to unlock what the questions are really asking. I spend at least one hour before each lesson preparing resources for each individual student and all resources including power point presentations are emailed for students to keep and look at in their own time after the lessons which helps with revision.
