Hiya! I am a secondary school teacher in Norfolk who has enjoyed tutoring both mainstream and those with special educational needs in the past. Originally from Sussex, I moved to Norwich in 2017 for university and have been living here ever since as I love the city and the people here.
I am currently a secondary school science teacher, teaching ages 11-18. While I specialise in chemistry at GCSE and A-level, I also teach 'science' to KS3, which encompasses chemistry, but also biology and physics.
I have experience tutoring both privately and with targeted intervention in the school setting, and pride myself on planning targeted sessions and producing resources to fit the needs of the student. I am also a GCSE examiner.
I am a young, friendly teacher who feels forming relationships with young people is an important factor in helping them learn.
I also believe that, while there is a lot of content to learn in the science subjects at GCSE, rote memorisation is not the way to go about this. I organise my sessions (and my lessons in school) to consist of some time going over content and what the student needs to know, then the remainder of the lesson is spent completing exam style questions which require students to apply this knowledge. There are only so many things examiners can ask, so familiarising ourselves with the style and wording of exam questions is really important in my practice, and means students become not-so overwhelmed by the real thing!
