Hi, I’m Amelia! I’m 21 years old and currently studying Criminology and Psychology at university, but my true passion is working with young people and helping them grow in confidence, skills, and curiosity. I specialise in English (Literature & Language), History, and Philosophy — subjects I achieved top grades in and still adore today. I know what it’s like to face tricky topics, so I work hard to make lessons clear, engaging, and enjoyable.
I’ve always believed learning should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Whether we’re unpicking the layers of a novel, bringing history to life, or exploring big philosophical questions, I tailor every lesson to your unique learning style. I also have experience working with students who have SEN and SEND needs, making sure every pupil feels supported, understood, and capable of success.
Outside of tutoring, I’m a big Arsenal fan and love watching tennis and golf (and I’m even learning to play both)! I’m a huge bookworm and at my most productive I can devour two books a month. I adore cats and definitely hope to adopt one of my own. I’m also a bit of a foodie, always keen to travel, try new cuisines, and learn about different cultures.
My long-term goal is to work in teaching or behavioural psychology, but for now, tutoring gives me the chance to inspire young learners, help them overcome challenges, and celebrate their “lightbulb moments”. If you’re looking for a patient, dedicated tutor who will cheer you on every step of the way, I’d love to work with you.
For the past four months, I’ve been helping students aged 8–16 build confidence and skills in English through personalised, engaging online lessons. In that time, I’ve taught over 40 private sessions to six wonderful pupils — each with their own goals, personalities, and ways of learning.
I have a strong background in working with children who have SEN and SEND needs, and I adapt my approach so every student feels understood, supported, and capable of success. Whether it’s improving reading comprehension, sharpening writing skills, tackling tricky grammar, or preparing for exams, I make sure lessons are not only productive, but also encouraging and enjoyable.
Currently, I have received 13 five-star reviews from parents and students who’ve seen real progress and growing confidence.
I spend a lot of time creating lessons that fit my students individually. I will usually always have a PowerPoint that contains key information and helps guide students through the lesson. While taking into account the preferences of my students, I believe that incorporating a variety of learning strategies into my lessons is a really good way to involve my students, allow them to interact with their lessons and take control of their learning. Doing this can help build confidence and overall encourage more productive sessions. Some of these strategies may include: interactive learning, independent learning, cooperative learning, gamification or simple auditory learning. I do this to ensure my students remain interested in what they are doing as well as providing them the option of a learning strategy that suits them best. This also encourages greater academic success!
Tracking progress is important so as to check how my students are getting on with the sessions. I do this individually using lessons logs on the MyTutor platform but I also do my own to ensure I am focusing on the correct topics. I will also encourage students to think about how they feel they are getting on with the sessions. I will often ask after every session what went well for my students and if there was anything particularly tricky. This promotes self-honesty in my pupils, making them unafraid to express when they need guidance and allowing them to reflect on what areas they need to focus on.
