PhD in Experimental Psychology (2013), with a strong background in Research Methods and Statistics.
Experienced in teaching statistics and research methods, and in delivering private tuition around research projects (e.g., dissertation).
I also have recently completed a MSc in Data Science (2021; Distinction), and I am skilled in data analysis and visualization with R, as well as have experience with Python.
I have taught in many different settings and also participated to outreaching activities, providing me with a wide scope of teaching methods and the flexibility needed to teach a range of students with different levels and backgrounds.
Specifically, I have been teaching research methods and statistics extensively. I also have been marking research/lab reports and essays, and have supervised successfully over 100 project students over the last 10 years. This experience will allow me to support you with your project of any kind (e.g., dissertation). Please note however that I have very little experience in qualitative research and typically cannot help with such projects. For quantitative methods, I have expertise in using R, SPSS, JASP and jamovi, and I am currently developing my Python skills as well.
Where students' feedback can be provided, my feedback is always excellent, and many students have passed on my details to their friends, testifying of their satisfaction with my work. My training and my own position in Higher Education will provide you with the right insight for your work.
Should you be a student in my own institution (a London university), I will not be able either to take your offer, due to conflicts of interest (please mention your university when messaging me).
I believe that you can teach and tutor at student level without dumbing down, by showing the relevance of the content to the student's interests.
Practically, I can provide online support at flexible times fitting around both my other commitments and yours, as well as asynchronously; I will need to be sure to discuss this with you, but currently synchronous support will likely be on a Wednesday, a Thursday, or on the weekend. If we work together asynchronously, I can fit my support more easily around my main teaching job. My hourly rate is £30/h for online work.
Please note that I currently do not have the wiggle time to provide face-to-face support, but this can be discussed on a case-by-case basis for people located very near my area (face-to-face work has a rate of £35.29/h).
Please finally note that I do not apply a policy of first-lesson-free due to my main area of teaching (statistics) and the way I prepare for tutoring: I ask students to send me information before the first meeting, so that we hit the ground running from the very first lesson. I do not ask for payment for the work I do to prepare before the first meeting and as a consequence a very simple statistical problem could be solved within an hour. If I was to apply a policy of first-lesson-free, I would sometimes deliver a solution for free, so I hope you will understand why I cannot apply such a policy.
