Although I came out with top grades, I found school incredibly hard - I've been through the stress so you don't have to. As a result of my school experience, I hope to help students who are struggling as I did and I am a firm believer in passion unlocking potential. English became a comfort over the course of my secondary education and was always my "thing". However, my confidence was quickly obliterated by an unusually intense teacher and the overwhelming A-Level specification. With perseverance and commitment, I brought my grade up from an E to an A* in under three months.
I have experience in getting students into their dream private or grammar schools and going up class sets. I have also worked with students with dyslexia and ADHD. My age range goes from KS2 to A-Level; I am familiar with the National Curriculum, GCSE (English Literature and Language) and A-Level (English Literature).
My lessons usually start with a quick recap, a warm-up activity depending on age and year group and the bulk of our lesson will be skills-focused e.g: completing a creative writing piece, tackling a comprehension or finishing a comparative literature essay. All of my activities are taken from or inspired by exams and assessments. I am happy to assist in marking and working on school projects. Reading is a skill that is always promoted and embedded in each of my sessions! Through my own experience, I found that passion presides over everything - when you remind yourself of your enjoyment of the subject, you harness success.
