I just started my PhD in Engineering and Cyber Security and I'm looking for more teaching opportunities. I've always loved maths and have found to have a slightly different way of approaching problems to get to the right answer. I believe in building an individuals confidence to help them believe in themselves and apply their own approach to solving problems they are presented with as confidently as possible.
I was most passionate about Maths and Further Maths during my GCSE's and A-levels, where in some modules I got top marks in my exams. I also studied Computer Science and Mathematics at University and worked as a data scientist for 3.5 years, where I applied mathematical principles when coding algorithms. During my studies and experience I always had some tutoring arrangements where I helped struggling students understand Maths and help build their confidence around the subject. I hope to continue to do so going forward as it is an area I am mostly passionate about and truly appreciate the opportunity of helping others reach their potential in this wonderful subject.
I've worked with young minds who struggled with Maths during my education years. My approach has remained the same, to understand their perspective and offer innovative ways to tackle a problem in order to get to the right answer. Not everyone thinks the same, nor should they be forced to do so. There are multiple approaches in many cases on how to get your mind to remember formulas and understand/tackle the scope of a problem. I aim to find a tailored way to present maths to each individual and help them bring their confidence up to be able to excel, and hopefully get rid of the potential fear mathematics can bring.
