I am a professional, friendly and engaging tutor who has delivered in the region of 5,000 1:1 tutor sessions. I pride myself in preparing throughly and offering young people and parents excellent value. Students tend to like me and this is vital as relationships are everything!

I have a wide range of interests, including photography, graphic design, reading, new technologies and cinema. I take great pleasure in watching my local football team, as a season ticket holder.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified teacher of 27 years. Between 1998 and 2009, I worked in secondary schools teaching English, Media Studies and Drama, achieving consistently excellent results.

From 2009 until 2016, I worked in senior leadership at a secondary academy in North-West England, serving as Principal for 5 years in which time I led a challenging school from Special Measures to Good.

In 2016, I established my own educational services company providing academic interventions for schools and local authorities; private tuition for home-educated and mainstream students; emotional intelligence coaching for students experiencing emotional difficulties; and Youth Theatre projects for the local community. I was also employed by the Anne Frank Trust in a training and workshop design capacity and my learning programmes are currently being delivered by schools across the UK.

I take pride in the relationships I have built and the successes I've contributed to in the thousands of tuition sessions I have delivered to date.

Through my qualifications and experience, I am able to offer a range of subjects: English Language, English Literature, Creative Media, Film Studies up to A-level, and Maths up to GCSE Intermediate Level.

Tutoring Approach

I am a meticulous planner of who delivers engaging, challenging lessons in line with the student's ability. My approach is multi-sensory, using well-designed presentations that incorporate appropriate pace, variety and relevance through visual and auditory resources.

I have a proven track record of building outstanding relationships with students. Expectations are high but the learning is always delivered in a safe, fun and trusting environment, whether that be face to face or on an online platform.

I maintain open lines of communication with parents, providing as much support as possible to help young people achieve in line and above their potential.
