I am a qualified Maths teacher , retired from school now in order to concentrate on my tutoring. I’m a passionate, caring and enthusiastic teacher possessing the key ability to translate the discipline of mathematics in a straightforward, relevant and accessible way. My greatest joy is supporting students academically and watching them flourish into capable, independent mathematicians.
I have been teaching for nearly 20 years and have taught Maths in both mainstream comprehensive schools and in a school for children with a range of special needs. I have taught across the age and ability range. I have tutored students from independent and grammar schools. I have also helped pupils prepare for their 11+ entrance exams and have taught mature students too.... Teaching at different levels brings an exciting range of challenges and rewards.
I believe that all children learn in different ways and I adapt my teaching to suit their individual needs. My lessons are personalised and relevant to the individual needs. I work at a pace that suits each student and let them guide the learning as I fill in gaps in their education. I try to make learning fun by using a range of techniques depending on the student’s age and ability. I am patient and don’t mind thinking of several ways to explain the same thing if there is a particular topic that a student is really struggling.
