Living on my narrowboat with my cat, advocating for children's and human rights, playing piano and spending time in nature are among my favourite personal activities. I also enjoy artistic activities and spending time with friends and family.
I am an experienced Upper KS2 primary school teacher, and have taught Year 6, Year 5 and Year 4. I have extensive experience preparing children for KS2 SATs.
I have also taught Year 1 as a cover teacher and lead whole school singing assemblies. I have worked as 1:1 special needs teaching assistant. I have also worked as a kindergarten (aged 3 to 7) teacher and assistant in Steiner schools.
I have a consistent record of achieving high academic achievement for all my pupils as well as providing outstanding pastoral care.
Effective learning takes place when a strong relationship is built between the pupil and their teacher. I seek to understand each of my pupils as individuals with unique abilites and interests. This means I can tailor my lessons according to specific barriers they are struggling to overcome, areas they wish to excel in and activities which engage and excite them.
I teach by considering learning from the child's perspective, presenting challenging concepts in small steps and moving through concrete examples, to pictorial and finally abstract when the child is ready.
