I am a friendly and helpful person by nature and have been described as a natural teacher. I am patient and kind and enjoy teaching.
I live in Winchester, but was born and raised in a seaside town in Devon. My hobbies include dinghy sailing, playing the guitar and singing, hiking, writing. I love spending time in nature, am an animal lover and have an interest in the arts.
I am a highly qualified and experienced English teach and have specialised in teaching English for Academic purposes at university level. I have taught both international and local students who want to study at a British university and have taught on pre-Masters and BA courses at Southampton University for 10 years. I have helped students write academic style essays and reports and deliver academic presentations and take part in university discussions and seminars.
I have also taught the Cambridge suite of International English examinations including First Certificate, CAE and Proficiency. I have helped students prepare for IELTS. Further to this experience I have also specialised in Business English and taught corporate clients at all levels.
I believe in a student-centred approach to tutoring. I aim to create a friendly, supportive learning environment and love seeing my students gain confidence and make progress. I believe in inspiring and motivating students and encouraging them to be the best they can be. I believe in a step by step approach where students can see the progress they are making, building on their skills in a structured way, but also bringing creativity and enjoyment to the process.
