I taught Psychology for 5 years (PGCE + 4 years with my QTS) at a sixth-form college. I absolutely enjoy discussing topics within this subject and would love to share my passion for psychology with a student who'd like to improve their knowledge for their upcoming exams. I am currently an education worker for a charity yet still enjoy teaching psychology as my undergraduate degree is in psychology.
I used to be a full-time teacher for 4 years of social sciences (Psychology, Sociology and Criminology) in a sixth-form college. I taught A-level students using the AQA exam board for both psychology and sociology while also teaching the WJEC Criminology Diploma. I have experience in working with students of a range of abilities.
My teaching approach is a balance of student-led and a teacher-led format. I believe in providing students with the basic knowledge and foundations of the subject. Then, I aim to enhance the student's skills needed to fulfil the assessment objectives required to succeed in the exams. I use a range of scaffolding strategies, positive reinforcement, written/oral feedback and exam practice to develop a student's subject knowledge. In addition, I aim to create a safe learning environment where a student feels comfortable to make mistakes yet have the determination to attempting to rectify them.
