Ever thought your Biology exam went well but ended up with a poor score? Fear not! I am a 3rd year medical student aspiring to be an Oncologist. I have trained many students in a similar situation, who have grown to understand instead of remember biology! Get a free trial lesson with me, and you will know that I am a funny and dedicated individual who will not only be a tutor, but a friend and mentor you can rely on to always be there to motivate you. Take a look at my references, you may access them as you please. I will see you in the lesson!
Online Private Tutoring: 4 years of experience
I worked roughly half a year with Airclass, where I was often put forwards as the first choice tutor for biology and chemistry, even ahead of actual teachers. Furthermore, I have provided my services through childcare (where you can see more reviews). I have recieved a certificate of excellence by Childcare for my online tutoring services.
Udemy: I have published courses on the website Udemy. I launched a little company called 4U Tutors. I planned, recorded, edited, and created the entire GCSE Course myself.
First of all, if you are here to be taught, you are at the wrong place! Go to your school teacher for that, it is free too! I am not here to teach, I am here to train you. GCSE and A Level biology contains the so-called 'application questions', which students are always thrown off by. The reason for this is because students are not understanding the topic, they are simply remembering. That works to some degree as biology is easy to remember. However, I will always teach you outside the specification knowledge, ensuring you understand the importance of biology, and therefore you will make huge improvements, I guarantee it.
I deploy a very effective education protocol called the knowledge, application, and review system. Or KAR. The knowledge part including the fundamentals and basics of the content. Simply put, this can be considered the content that must be remembered. Application takes a step further. The application is designed to ensure my students do not remember the content, but understand it. This is because I strongly support the notion that understanding a topic to the point you can teach it is the best way of retaining information. Indeed, many scientific literatures support that 90% of information is remembered when
taught. I encourage my students to do this. The final part is review. This is not a summary. But this is a response to practice tests that I have engineered. The tests I create are designed so that students must get 85% at least to consider the test completed. Therefore, I will encourage students who do not achieve 85% to give themselves 24 hours. Within this 24 hour, they will relearn one section of the test they did bad on. Then, they will repeat the test exactly 24 hours later. This review process ensures my students recall the parts they are
good at and do not forget them, while simultaneously gearing them for the parts they are bad on.
On top of this, I deploy mostly diagrams with condensed but snappy notes. This can help favour both right brained and left brained students. Additionally, I am someone who consistently makes many jokes during the lesson. May these jokes be jokes that help my students remember the content, may these jokes be jokes that tease my students when they make a mistake, or may they be jokes to guarantee full participation and attention throughout the lesson. For this reason, I am considered as one of the most fun teachers my students have ever got. They enjoy being part of my lesson because I make the lesson a hobby for them.
Finally, for Biology, I use my medical knowledge to teach my students extra. This helps them to understand firstly why they are learning the content, but also helps in the application section of my teaching that I have talked about previously.
