I'm a fourth year dental student at Queen Mary University of London, I received A*A*A at A level in Biology, Psychology and Chemistry. Biology was my favourite subject at A level and I have learned it in even more depth through my university course. This allows me to help any students who want extra help with the subject as I can break the information down so it's easier for them to learn and apply to exam questions. Being a student and having sat A Levels recently myself, I know multiple learning methods and use them to ensure lessons are really effective. I sat the AQA A Level Biology exams in 2019 (last exams before Covid) and made condensed notes which I share with my students during their first lesson. As I have been tutoring since my A Levels and I sat the exams myself, I have become very familiar with the mark schemes and know all the tips and tricks needed to get full marks.
Reviews that previous students left for me:
"Honestly Areeba has not only been a very good tutor but also such an amazing mentor too! She’s a very supportive and understanding person and has never made me feel as though i’m not capable of getting a good grade. At the start of the year ,before Areeba was my tutor, my self confidence with Biology A Level was very low to the point where I genuinely felt as though I was not going to pass. Once Areeba gets to know you as a student she’s able to provide you with lessons that suit your needs. She also has very useful resources that have helped me get the grade that I needed. Thank you so much for all your help and support Areeba!"
"I started with Areeba around January time and she was very helpful and attentive. What I really appreciated was her in-depth PowerPoints she made for each of my biology a level topics. They had multiple questions with the answers underneath so you were constantly tested on the information you were learning. I wasn’t able to grasp any teaching from school so I learnt everything with Areeba and I was very happy with how it was going. In the span of 4-5 months I was able to cover the majority of a level biology. As I’m currently studying biomedical sciences at uni I still use some of her PowerPoints to help me with the basis of my course."
"This tutor is very good and has helped my increase my grades a lot. She has sent many resources for me that are very useful and this has helped increase my grades. Her teaching is very efficient and she teaches very well"
"Areeba is a brilliant tutor. I’m currently being taught by her for A level biology and she has already helped me understand some of the areas I find difficult which has boosted my confidence in believing I am able to achieve a good grade. She is easy to get on with and I feel comfortable knowing she isn’t judging me for not knowing an answer to a question and that we can go through it together. Her way of teaching is great as she tests you as you go which is great for making the content stick in your memory. Going through exam questions every lesson is also effective as it’s a difficult part of A levels for most people as applying knowledge can be tricky, but she goes through it with you and explains thoroughly how to get an answer. I will look forward to more tutor lessons with her."
I have been tutoring since I have been in university and I mostly tutor students who follow the AQA exam board however I have tutored OCR students in the past. Having studied for the AQA exams and tutoring it for so long, I know the tips and tricks of how to answer questions in the way that will gain the most marks and can share these tips with my students when doing exam questions.
I first go through topic with my student, where I share my screen of my own notes (or they can open them up as they will have access to them) and go through the content. This allows my students to ask any questions and clarify anything they don't understand. Throughout reading notes, I ask recall questions to my students to ensure they have understood the content properly. I like repeat any questions they find difficult so they memorise it more and feel more confident with it. I then go through exam questions where my students can apple the knowledge they have learned and I talk through the mark scheme with them. When going through the mark schemes I go through patterns or key words they can learn to ensure they always get top marks. I am flexible to go through the whole syllabus in a systematic way or only work on topics most relevant to the student. If the student has a different approach to learning which works better for them I am happy to adapt to their needs. I like to ensure my students feels comfortable with my tutoring style and that they know it is okay to make mistakes because learning from them is the best way to improve and move forward.
