Ashley

Hi, my name is Ashley and I am a Senior Bridge Engineer with 8 years' experience in the construction industry. I have a strong mathematical basis and pride myself on my critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities which enables me to produce high-quality bridge designs and assessments. I also have a passion for mentorship and enjoy being a key part of an individual's development, whether that be professionally, academically, or personally.

Outside of my profession, I love all things to do with music, travel, football, history and much more! I like to build a good rapport with my students/mentees so that they feel comfortable discussing the tutoring content but also their interests and hobbies to make sessions enjoyable.

Tutoring Experience

As part of my role as a Senior Bridge Engineer, I am responsible for mentoring junior members of staff including industrial placement students, apprentices, and graduates. This involves teaching them the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours to enable them to develop into confident and experienced engineers. My partner is also a Primary School Teacher and I assist them with the development of maths lessons and planning for KS3 students.

Tutoring Approach

I am adaptable in my teaching approach to suit the needs of the individual learner. If a teacher-centred approach is required, I can provide worked examples with step-by-step instructions and exercises to reinforce the learning. If a learner-centre approach is more beneficial, I will encourage the student to explore and question the subject matter and give them real-world scenarios to help develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
