As a medical student who is currently volunteering as an A level tutor for my secondary school, the posting for tutoring with FirstTutors piqued my interest. While reviewing the job requirements and your website, I was excited to see that my qualifications and personal traits are aligned with your requirements and mission.
I bring a set of talents that I believe will be valuable to FirstTutors. As a medical student, I have honed my abilities in test preparation and secondary school education, providing a solid foundation for the Tutor position. My ability to learn and grow, people-centric nature and eagerness to please have afforded me excellent communication skills. I am excited to contribute my strengths and proficiency in personal effectiveness towards your team efforts. As an extroverted and personable communicator with a proven track record in sixth form education, my focus on building strong professional relationships has been a valuable asset throughout my career. I am patient and determined in not only achieving my own goals but also at helping other individuals achieve theirs. Creativity is a skill that I can bring to help keep learning fun and bring in new revision materials and ideas to tailor individual learning needs.

The idea of progressive learning and slowly building up the difficulty. Perfect the fundamentals first and then work our way up to harder exam style questions. Interactive learning achieved by use of whiteboards and mind maps, slowly filling in the blanks and giving opportunities to ask questions. Use of topic questions and working with the student initially to improve their confidence and exam technique. Then slowly removing support to allow student to do questions independently. Frequent mini assessments followed by topic tests and then full exams to ensure exam technique is perfected. Regular homework given but a sufficient, minimal amount that is targeted at improving expertise at a particular topic. Achieve a friendship like connection with the student to make them feel more comfortable and thus succeed more in the learning environment and gain more out of the sessions. Provide external support as well to maximise tutoring benefits.
