Aysha

I am a newly qualified doctor, having graduated with First-Class Honours in Medicine, following a First-Class Integrated Master's degree in Biomedical Science. My academic journey has given me a deep understanding of both the scientific foundations and clinical applications of healthcare, knowledge I now bring into every tutoring session.

With over a decade of tutoring experience since 2014, I have supported students across a wide range of subjects, particularly A-level Chemistry and Biology, and GCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics). Many of my students have gone on to secure places at top Russell Group universities, including Cambridge, to study highly competitive courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, and Psychology.

I pride myself on being approachable, patient, and committed. I tailor my teaching to suit each student’s unique learning style and goals, ensuring they gain not only strong academic results but also the confidence and skills to become independent learners.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring A-level Chemistry and Biology, as well as GCSE Chemistry, Biology, and Physics since 2014. However, my passion for teaching began long before that — as a youth leader with St. John Ambulance, I delivered first-aid classes to children aged 10 to 17. While still a student at Greenhead College, I mentored AS and A-level students, supporting them both academically and pastorally.

Over the years, I’ve worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and goals — many of whom have gone on to study at top Russell Group universities, including Cambridge. These experiences have reinforced a key lesson: no two students learn the same way.

Some students struggle to understand core concepts, while others find it difficult to apply their knowledge in exam settings — and often, it's a combination of both. My role is to help each student identify exactly where they need support, and to teach in a way that suits their individual learning style.

Most importantly, I aim to build each student’s confidence and independence. I don’t just want students to achieve top grades — I want them to become resilient, self-directed learners who can take ownership of their progress.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching is always guided by the specific exam board syllabus that the student is following. This ensures every topic is covered in the right depth and detail — no time is wasted, and nothing is missed.

In one-to-one sessions, I take a structured yet flexible approach that adapts to the student’s needs and learning style:

Initial Assessment
In the first lesson, we’ll identify the student’s current strengths and areas for improvement. This helps us build a focused plan — strengthening weak areas while consolidating what they already do well.

Targeted Learning Plans
For students covering a large amount of content, I set up a clear timetable of goals and topics. This gives structure and helps track progress week by week.

Exam-Focused Practice
Once the core understanding is solid, we move on to exam-style questions and past paper practice. This reinforces knowledge, builds confidence, and teaches students how to apply what they've learned under exam conditions.

High-Impact Exam Technique
I regularly share tips on how to answer questions clearly, concisely, and strategically — ensuring students pick up as many marks as possible, especially on higher-level questions.

Above all, I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking any question — no matter how small. My first rule is: “There’s no such thing as a silly question.” Encouraging curiosity and trust is key to building confidence, and ultimately, achieving success.
