Having had a long career in three renowned auction houses in the UK, specialising in books and manuscripts, I decided to fulfil my ambition to teach by qualifying as a CELTA teacher. I love meeting and learning from people from all cultures and backgrounds. I am a warm, friendly and an approachable person who likes to make people happy and confident within themselves. My teaching approach reflects this. The historic city of Edinburgh is a wonderful source for teaching and I also offer teaching English as a foreign language through excursions around the city using art galleries, museums and historical sights to provide an excellent visual aid for learning. I enjoy making learning a new language fun.
I have had experience teaching many nationalities. My learners have included Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Serbian, German, Slovakian, Sudanese and Greek. I had a temporary post tutoring at Fettes College Learning Centre and have also done volunteer teaching in Edinburgh.
Learning any new language should be interesting, engaging and most importantly fun! I feel strongly that optimum learning ability is reached with the help of a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Teaching should be flexible to reflect learners' needs and interests as learning is ultimately and naturally achieved through stimulation, enjoyment and good communication.
