Ben tutored my son for his A-Level history exam preparation. With his outstanding knowledge of history, and engaging teaching style, Ben systematically and methodically supported my son to gradually build on knowledge, skills and eventually confidence for his exams. Whilst my son's initial predicted grades were in the A-C range, his hard work and Ben's excellent support meant that he was ultimately rewarded with a well-deserved A.

Ben is an amazing History tutor and mentor! We were lucky to find him a few months before Olivia’s GCSE exams. Contacted Ben at the start of year 11 to support my son through the last year of English GCSE as he was really lacking in confidence and has always found English more difficult. The impact of having to sit through an extra year of a subject he isn't keen on in order to retake it whilst doing 3 A levels would not be good!

Ben got straight down to identifying where he felt my son's difficulties were and worked in detail through examples from past papers to support him, bringing me up to date with what they had done whenever I saw him. Ben is also a bit of an entertainer (linking some of this into examples of what he was teaching) which made a subject my son found tedious, much more enjoyable to work through.

Having got to the end, my son was definitely so much more confident and I have no doubt his grade will be much higher in August than originally anticipated. I would happily recommend Ben to anyone struggling with English GCSE.

Ben has been helping my son with History GCSE. He is an excellent tutor who my son has an excellent rapport with. His lessons are interesting and enjoyable, and most importantly effective. Ben is easy to deal with, very helpful and as accommodating as his busy schedule allows. I highly recommend.

I first found Ben because I was attracted by the hundreds of comments below his introduction, and they were all very positive. The second I was attracted is by his experience, the profile show that he graduated from very prestigious secondary school and university, and scored highly in admissions interview. So I got the impression that this tutor must be very methodical and may be helpful for my son as my son needs English help very seriously. And later the facts also proved this point. After several sessions, my son said Ben was humorous and methodical, familiar with all the exam board syllabus, and very clear about the score points of the GCSE exam. He teaches well. My son now likes his class very much, and he feels that it is really helpful for learning writing. Ben is also quite responsible. Ben has been a great help for the time that we’ve been working together I have only worked with Ben for the past four weeks and he has been exceptionally responsive to my sons doubts when it comes to geography and going over the structure of exam style questions he is patient and his teaching style is very effective. Ben tutored my 15 year old son in English and History for about six months in the lead up to the school exams which replaced GCSEs in 2021. The advice and support Ben provided was invaluable and I saw my son’s confidence and ability develop enormously. Ben also provided me as a parent with regular, detailed feedback so I could better understand my son’s development areas and progress. I found Ben last winter at a time when my Year 11 daughter was sadly struggling with her confidence in English and Religious Studies. I have been most fortunate to call Ben my tutor for the last six months. Having previously attended Winchester College, I thought that the quality of teaching could surely not improve, I was completely mistaken. Despite their so-called expertise in breeding Oxbridge candidates, I now recognize that their understanding of the system is outdated, in comparison, Ben provides an approach grounded in current not past success. Moreover, it must be noted that his EQ is astounding, his ability to understand and help to manage parent-student relationships with regards to studying is something that should not be overlooked. In short, one sentence can be used to describe Ben, ‘theprice is what you pay, yet ultimately the value is what you get’.

My mother would also like to add the following… I started my search for a tutor in September; when no one else was looking.  I’m writing this review at the start of the lockdown and when GCSE and A level exams have just been cancelled  to suggest that you do the same, an outstanding tutor like Ben will not be available for long.

Always patient, communicative and professional, I knew from the first exchange of information that he would be able to help my son in more ways than one.  He has become a mentor to my son and has been able to guide, motivate and challenge him when I haven’t.  If you are lucky enough to have Ben as your child’s tutor you should count yourself extremely lucky. 

We found Ben through a recommendation from a neighbour. He has tutored my year 11 daughter in English, with a view to lifting her GCSE grade into a solid pass from a borderline one.

We asked Ben for help when my daughter was struggling with her RS GCSE and working at a Grade 4, near the bottom of her class. In just a few lessons, Ben showed her essay techniques and gave her revision tips that enabled her to achieve a high 6 in her mocks. In fact, after her mocks her teacher at school commented on her good essay structure and then decided to teach Ben’s model to the whole class. We continued with Ben’s lessons and she went on to achieve a Grade 9 in the actual GCSE. She took the RS GCSE a year early and has continued lessons with Ben, focusing on her English Literature, History and Geography GCSEs. Ben is an excellent tutor, he has a way of being clear about what needs to change and at the same time instilling confidence and encouraging her to achieve her best. She always seems much happier after her lessons and comes away feeling much more capable.

I am delighted to provide feedback for Ben who has played a critical role in helping my son achieve his objectives and getting into the university course he desired.

We spoke to Ben as a result of my son getting rather disappointing results at the end of his first year of A levels. Ben is a great tutor and my 13-year old enjoys his tutorials very much. Ben has been tutoring my son's English and history for more than 6 months. Excellent at breaking down and presenting complex methodology as to how to approach A-level exam questions in a way that is very simple to understand.

Geography A-level E to C
I had Ben as a tutor for the whole of my A2 year in College and he made a massive difference to my grades in Geography. In GCSE I was only a few marks shy of an A* so naturally I picked it as one of my 4 AS year subjects. I only managed an E at AS, but I did worse in AS maths so I had to keep Geography for the next year. Within my second college year Ben got my grade up to a middle C, which was exactly what he and I had predicted for myself at the start of his sessions. E to C may not sound like much but the jump from AS to A2 is almost as big of a jump from GCSE's to AS.
I could not be happier with Ben's tutoring as I got into my first choice uni. He is also a very personable character and it would be difficult to find someone he can't get along with; in my opinion this is great as it meant I never dreaded a session with him, even if I knew it was going to be 90 minutes of exam practice.

My son respects Ben because he is 'clearly a smart guy' and challenges him academically. I wasn't sure how online tutoring would work, but for our son, it has proved to add value quickly.

Ben thankfully jumped in at very short notice to rescue my son during Coursework preparation for History A-Level. Having filtered through dozens of tutors, I could instinctively tell that Ben was the right choice - my expectations were exceeded. Ben is a very skilled tutor. My daughter struggled with her essay writing and found it difficult to put a coherent analysis down on paper. Ben analysed her problems quickly and broke down the task of writing a history essay into types of essay questions, essay plans, paragraph writing, linking back to the question and providing a coherent analysis. Her essay writing technique has improved tremendously and so has her marks. He doesn't spoon feed her but guides her to work it out for herself, highlighting when she misses the mark.

Ben is an excellent tutor who has been particularly helpful in improving my essay structure. He can also explain difficult ideas by drawing on a wide range of vibrant examples from current affairs as well as his private life and was keen to accommodate my needs when I mentioned a subject he was not so familiar with.

Ben's sessions in English Language have been excellent. My son is having to resit his English Language GCSE paper in November and Ben's sessions have been invaluable to focus my sons attention on what he needs to do differently. They are focusing on past exams papers and their mark schemes as well as what it is that examiners are looking for in order to get the marks needed, and practicing each question and the relevant literally techniques in turn . Sessions are fun but focused and my son enjoys going because Ben can relate to what he is doing at college and the kinds of things 16 years old like. Ben also gives memorable examples of what needs to be done in order to help my son remember in the exam situation. I am really pleased with how sessions are progressing and would recommend Ben to others in a similar situation.
