I have been teaching for over 20 years most recently in an international school, teaching maths to 14-18 year olds. I have also taught private students Maths A level and GCSE for many years.
I am a father of three, all of whom were home-educated, one-to-one. My eldest two achieved 8s and 9s at GCSE before gaining equally impressive A level results in Maths and moving onto university. My youngest child is currently predicted to gain equally good GCSE results. I like teaching, especially Maths which, I believe, though sometimes challenging for students, is actually quite often fun.
In my 20+ years’ experience, I have taught in a variety of institutions as well as private tuition which has enabled me to encounter many different students for each of whom I have been able to adapt my approaches and resources to suit their particular strengths and weaknesses. In terms of my private students, I have had the pleasure of witnessing numerous successful outcomes, e.g. a student who was predicted a 4 in September eventually attained a 7. I have invariably received very positive feedback from both students and their parents.
I recognise and focus on individual student's needs and address them appropriately. Both during and since lockdowns, I have been able to successfully develop my teaching skills and I am happy to say that, especially one-to-one , the lessons have been highly effective and there have been many successful outcomes.
