Hello! I'm Ben, a 29 year old male originally from Sheffield, UK :)
I recently finished a PhD in Physics, and have several years experience in tutoring and teaching Mathematics, at various levels.
I also enjoy playing music, learning languages, and playing sport :)
PhD in Quantum Physics and Quantum Computing from University of Bristol. 3 years experience tutoring A-Level Mathematics online, and 3 years experience teaching and lecturing at university. I am an expert in Quantum Information, and have published 8 research papers to date, including 6 where I am the main author, and several publications have been accepted at top international journals. You can see my publications here: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=-vXlmzIAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=sra.
As a tutor/teacher, I try to be friendly, relaxed, and adaptable. I like to listen carefully to students and meet them where they are. I enjoy explaining the main concepts behind a question so that students can carry the knowledge forward to other situations.
A typical lesson with me could involve us focusing on a topic (such as logarithms, trigonometry, SUVAT) and me teaching the main content, or just working through questions and past papers together. I like to use online whiteboards, let the student take the lead, and prioritise preparation so that we can both get the most out of the session.
I am also available for tutoring in advanced topics in mathematics, such as linear algebra, calculus, and quantum mechanics and information.
I believe in honesty and kindness as important principles, and would never want to overwhelm a student or put too much pressure on them. I'm happy to work with a student to get them the grade they would like to achieve, whilst also acknowledging that grades are not everything and we have many different paths in front of us!
