I am a friendly and experienced Psychology teacher with a genuine passion for my subject. I enjoy helping students understand psychological concepts across the curriculum and how to link empirical evidence to support and falsify theories. I gained my Psychology degree from Cardiff University (2:1) in 2000 and completed my PGCE the following year to follow my vocation to teach psychology.
I have over 22 years experience teaching Psychology A level, with 19 years as a Head of a very successful department at a leading independent school in South West England. I have also been an examiner for AQA (2008 - 2015) and Edexcel exam board (2015 - present).
I manage a teaching and learning community of teachers at my current school which focuses on researching how help students decode exam questions; I use this in conjunction with my extensive examining experience to teach my students how to interpret and answer exam questions using recommended techniques and writing frames.
I successfully delivered online learning throughout the Covid pandemic and I have tutored students through Oxbridge and Russell group applications.
I have a diplomatic teaching style and pride myself on being able to adapt my approach to suit all styles of learning. I am calm, patient and understand the potential difficulties faced by students in comprehending different psychological concepts, the application of research methods as well as how to apply statistical testing in psychology.
