My name is Bernice Docherty. I am a fully qualified teacher with 10 years experience in primary education - with 7 years spent in year 6 catering towards SATs preparation. I am also a fully qualified and full time SENCo, so fully understand the need for adaptive learning in order to cater for the needs of all students. Students can expect a learning environment built on respect, understanding and patience with an element of fun thrown in.
I have 10 years experience in primary teaching, working in key stage 1 and 2, seven of those years spent in year 6 preparing for SATs. I have recently gained my NASENCo qualification and am the SENCo in my current setting catering for the learning needs of all students - especially those with additional needs.
I have real world, current experience working with children in an educational setting. I have up to date knowledge of the curriculum and the necessary strategies needed for examinations in SATs and 11+. I avoid misconceptions and address them as necessary. I have worked with a variety of learners including those whose first language is not English.
I believe in a fun adaptive approach to teaching. I believe students should enjoy what they are learning about to help with their retainment of the information. I teach to their level and adapt the lessons to suit their needs. We work hard and have fun doing it. Lessons are bespoke to the needs of the student.
