I am a full-time secondary Maths teacher in Oxford. I have a first class degree in Mathematics from Imperial College London (3rd in UK league tables), graduating in 2016. I have been tutoring maths for over 15 years, with experience in a range of ages and abilities. I strongly believe that every student can succeed in mathematics, and in my experience it is lack of confidence which is the most significant barrier to success. My tutoring style is friendly and enthusiastic, encouraging a safe environment for students to ask those questions which they may be worried about asking in the classroom.
As well as mathematics I am also passionate about music. I play the flute, saxophone and piano. I completed the first year of undergraduate study for BMus honours at Guildhall School of Music and Drama 2012-13 with a performance scholarship, before deciding to leave and pursue a more academic degree at Imperial College London.
Please note, from July 2024 I am taking a year out to travel the world (!) so am not able to tutor in person. I am still available to tutor online, so do get in contact if you’re interested.
I have experiencing teaching one-to-one music for over 18 years, and tutoring maths for over 15 years. I have been a full-time teacher for 8 years, having gained QTS through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. I have incredibly strong mathematical knowledge, with a first class degree from a top-ranking university. I am familiar with the the content required for students to achieve any target grade at GCSE and A-level maths, and have extensive experience adapting tuition to meet students' individual needs.
As well as teaching Mathematics I am also currently the Head of KS4 which means that I have plenty of training and experience coaching students in challenging circumstances.
My enthusiastic approach engages students in their studies, and I feel passionately about building their confidence in the subject as well as simply increasing their knowledge. I feel it is very important to tailor each of my sessions to the individual student's needs to make the most out of every tutoring session.
