I have an MA in the Teaching & Practice of Creative Writing and I am a published writer. I have two poetry pamphlets, and a book on the creative writing process published.
Writing is what I have always wanted to do. English was my best subject at school and what I enjoyed the most.
I am editor of an online poetry magazine and I am waiting to hear back from publishers on several books that I have completed, one is a children's picture book, one is a full length collection of poetry and one is a series of haiku (Japanese form of poetry) in response to abstract paintings by an international artist.
I have taught English language and literature, and creative writing for 15 years, at secondary schools colleges, universities, community groups and one to one mentoring.
I spent ten years teaching pupils who were excluded from school, on a one to one basis, in English, Drama, History, Geography, up to GCSE level.
I am student centred in my teaching approach, which means I look at the needs of the individual pupil and then teach accordingly, building on their strengths, and addressing their particular learning needs.
