I am a sports scientist with a specialism is sports biomechanics. My PhD in this area has developed expertise in mathematics and physics, alongside sports science. Coming from a coaching and sporting background I am a strong advocate of an individualised approach to learning centred around enjoyment. These values are key to my teaching in my current role as an academic at the University of Surrey and in my tutoring.
I am currently a Teaching Fellow in Sport and Exercise at the University of Surrey. During various academic posts at St. Mary’s University, University of Surrey and Bournemouth University, I have taught across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes including Sports Science, Sports Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy, Strength and Conditioning and Physics. During my undergraduate degree I also taught Maths, English and IT at GCSE level at multiple adult education centres. I have university level teaching qualifications and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
My teaching recognises that a personable, flexible approach is a key component to additional learning support. My adaptable nature enables me to cater for all learning styles, as well as all goals; whether that is learning principles from the beginning or additional revision support. I am happy to help wherever needed and provide a fun and comfortable learning environment in the process.
