I am a first-class Durham University English graduate with an excellent knowledge of English Language and Literature. I have lived and worked in six countries, giving me a wide, international perspective which I use to put my students first. I am motivating and energetic, but also precise and rigorous.
I am a developing teacher but I have already taught English in two countries (Cambridge International Curriculum), Spain and Thailand. In Thailand, I worked in a challenging international school environment, teaching pre-iGCSE English to Grade 8 students for one year. My students achieved excellent exam results and gave me excellent feedback. We worked on language and structure techniques, genres of texts, creative writing, and analysing texts. I also taught AS and A Level Sociology.
I am a student-centred, active learning teacher. My lessons are packed full of interesting activities, exercises and resources, ranging from media clips to worksheets, which get you thinking about the content in imaginative ways which connect to your interests. I want to get to know you first - your strengths and weaknesses - and work with those. Everything we do will be about the relationship we build and I try to grow your confidence in speaking and answering questions because you can do it!
