Hi :)
A seasoned tutor for over 11 years and ongoing homeschooling practitioner with hundreds of hours teaching experience.
I am a friendly, highly motivated and well organised individual with a genuine passion for teaching and helping others. I am also a very dedicated business owner who really understands how hard work and perseverance pays off to be successful .
Currently an undergraduate studying BA (Honours) English Language and Literature part time with the Open University to sharpen my skills and fully indulge in the discipline of the English language which I thoroughly enjoy.
I have been providing 1-2-1 and group sessions as a freelance tutor since 2013.
In my free time I work as an English teacher for young students and teenagers in an extremely busy tuition center, which has enabled me to gain endless hours of valuable teaching practice and knowledge.
My approach to tutoring is fun, innovative and adaptable to my learners needs.
The methods I use for aiding my students to achieve their best are:
Comprehension (Ability to understand and summarize texts)
Practice spellings
Past exam papers (completed together and marked to see where the student needs to improve)
Revision cards
Essay writing skills (including structure and technique)
Exam tips
Brainstorm technique for easy revision
Acronyms (help student memorize important information needed for exams)
Creative writing
Handwriting practice (if necessary)
Poetry
Educational games
Reading assessments
Sample essay questions (plan and create model answers with student to be used for revision closer to their exams)
Worksheets (Tailor made worksheets will be made by myself for the student to be completed as homework after for each session)
Regular tests (to keep track of students progress and to identify where improvements can be made)
Feedback from happy client
This young lady is very punctual, she is diligent and our grandsons enjoy their tuition time with her.
The lesson time is organised, if the child does not understand the written work she will listen to the child and explain what the question means.
Both boys are tutored separately, one after the other and both have said they enjoy their lessons. Homework is given, they read aloud, do spelling tests, comprehension, and more during their lesson. We and the boys are happy with our choice of tutor.
