Hello! My name is Cameron, and I hold a doctorate in Inorganic Chemistry from Somerville College, University of Oxford. Over my time at Oxford I have discovered a passion for teaching, as well as experimental chemistry. I currently work as a consultant scientist in Cambridge.
I have previously volunteered as a teaching assistant and subject mentor for Year 9 Chemistry during my years in Sixth Form (2012-14). I have also worked as a lab demonstrator and tutor during my undergraduate and graduate degrees, and have extensive experience as a freelance tutor.
My approach to tutorials can follow the Oxford "tutorial" system. The student will first let me know about a past paper or set of questions which they require help with, or I will suggest past papers myself. Then, the student will complete this work, and I will discuss their successes and failures during the tutorial, highlighting their strong points and helping them see where there is room for improvement. I can also bring a set of unpractised questions to the tutorial, which we can also discuss if time permits.
My flair for university-level chemistry will shine through, and I will happily offer insights as to what is yet to come for the subject, should the student choose to pursue it.
I am very flexible with regards to times. I can also offer help with personal statements for university applications.
