I am a very experienced teacher holding qualifications BSc(Hons) Mathematics and PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education). Being patient and approachable, I relish the challenge to support others in building self confidence, ability and therefore, attainment in mathematics.
I have 13 years experience in Secondary schools as well as 6 years in further education therefore I am very familiar with the curriculum and the changes in our education system. I teach part-time and teach all ages and abilities. My experience consists of teaching a wide range of qualifications: GCSE maths, GCSE Statistics, A Levels, Key stages 3, Core Maths, BTEC and Primary Key Stage 2. I take pride in being successful in my occupation and results reflect that. I have had significant experience in tutoring privately which has also resulted in desirable grades.
Alongside teaching in the classroom, I have experience in mentoring student teachers as well as developing existing teachers by supporting them in their teaching and learning practice.
I will assess the student and ensure that positive factors are drawn out followed by looking at what areas require focus and consolidation. I feel by listening and teaching at an appropriate pace for the learner has always benefited the student and has allowed them to be forthcoming in asking questions. If a learner does not understand explanations at the first instance, I will explore other avenues for the individual to use other strategies suited to their learning style.I am able to motivate students which is fundamental and engenders a feeling of self-belief within the students.
