French native speaker with 20 years + of experience as a translator and 4 years as a private tutor. I moved to London from Paris in 2004 to work as French translator. I left my permanent job after I had my two children and started tutoring at the beginning of 2020.
I teach French as a foreign language and French as a mother tongue to students aged 5 to 70+. I can also teach English as an additional language.
I am comfortable teaching any age group because:
• I know that capturing the interest of young ones is key when learning a new language. It needs to be fun, especially for the younger students.
• I am up-to-date with the national curriculum (KS3, GCSE and A’ levels). A good knowledge of what the exam is about and a good preparation is essential to relieve stress.
• I love sharing my knowledge of the French language and culture which is always useful with adults who want to practice their conversational skills.
• As a professional translator, I have a good knowledge of both English & French grammar. I can help students with an advanced level of French and support them during their academic studies.
I teach online on Zoom (one-to-one) or I can travel to your home at an additional fee and if it's within a reasonable distance (Kingston, Surbiton, Claygate, Esher, Cobham, Oxshott, New Malden, Epsom...)
My approach tends to vary according to the student's level and personality.
The aim of the first lesson is to get to know the student, assess their level and define together the learning objectives and a timeline, if applicable. After the first meeting, I will draw up lesson plans which will match the student's specific needs in order to reach the student’s full potential and meet our targets.
I use a wide range of resources which I have either collected, bought or developed myself and can give some homework to consolidate the learning.
I can recommend extra resources if necessary, especially in preparation for GCSE and A' Levels.
