I have worked as a HLTA in primary school since 2011. I graduated from London University in 1983 and worked at de Montfort University in academic administration until l had 4 children.
After returning to work as a teaching assistant for some years I gained HLTA status. I love reading and I love teaching English, reading, writing to children at all levels within key stage 2. I enjoy yoga, gardening, walking. I have recently retired from school but would love to continue some teaching at home.
Whilst working at Wolvey Primary School as a HLTA I have taught whole class English lessons to all KS2 years. And I have taught small groups and specialised in guided reading , grammar, creative writing and SATS preparation. I have worked closely with many teachers, often planning, teaching and assessing poetry and drama lessons.
Generally I would be keen to assess for learning- ie find out where the pupil is, what they know and don't know within the context of their own specific requirements/outcomes.
I would formulate a plan with specific aims/objectives and share this with the pupi
