I am a passionate English tutor with Graduate and Post-Graduate qualifications in English Literature and Psychology. I have a keen interest in Shakespeare and regularly attend plays at the Globe Theatre in London. I love promoting reading and literacy in young people and helping to fuel their interest in enjoying books outside of their academic studies. I have also worked extensively in mental health and enjoy working with students who are studying A level Psychology as part of their studies.
I have 5 years experience of tutoring students at various levels in both English and Psychology. My main area of experience is tutoring the English Language and Literature GCSE and I have successfully supported students in year ten and eleven with their revision techniques, understanding the literary texts and in making them accessible. I am keen to help students increase their confidence and a lot of my work often also includes supporting students who struggle with spellings and grammar, as well as essay writing and analysis of texts.
For Psychology, I have assisted students to organise their learning and to create effective exam techniques, as well as helping them with the various topics undertaken for the exams.
I am very focused on tailoring my support to the individual's needs and requirements. I have been praised for my patience and my wealth of resources which I draw on for my sessions. I feel students need to take learning at their own pace and in a style that is comfortable for them and this has been especially effective when I have worked with students who have had additional mental health needs or additional learning requirements like Dyslexia. I have tutored students who are in the care system and built an effective rapport with them to help
