I am an Oxford graduate with an outstanding record in my academic and professional career. As a proud French-Colombian citizen, I know how it feels to be a non-native English speaker in the UK and still receive excellent results! I moved to London aged 17 and have remained in the UK ever since, completing several degrees and successfully transitioning into the private sector. From my home in Kensington, your home, or online, I will dedicate myself to supporting you with your studies - please read on and get in touch so that we can arrange your first (free!) lesson :)
Qualifications
My undergraduate degree was in History, Politics and Economics. I graduated with a High Distinction and was awarded a place on the Dean’s List for outstanding achievements. I also hold two Masters in Intellectual History and European Art and received high marks in both.
Languages
I am fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Italian and would be happy to conduct lessons in one of these languages.
University
I have supported students at several universities in the UK and abroad with their coursework, including tutoring on their subject, essay writing skills, and preparation for exams. These have proven popular and my students have reported back to me how their results have improved in line with their expectations. This includes students moving from a fail to pass, to those looking to move from a 2:2 into a 2:1 and also those students aiming for a first-class honours. Whatever your level, I promise that I will do my best to improve your work and help you to fulfil the grade that you hope to achieve.
A Level and International Baccalaureate
I have several years experience tutoring English, French, Spanish, History, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology and Theology. I am proficient at teaching other subjects in the humanities and am happy to support students up until and including undergraduate level in Economics. I have also helped students at a private school with their studies including the EPQ and would be happy to help with this qualification if required.
Oxbridge Applications and Personal Statements
I have a successful record at supporting Oxbridge applicants and Personal Statements to top universities in the UK and abroad. I can support students with initiating applications for courses and colleges in Oxbridge and reviewing drafts of personal statements in advance of deadlines.
I am friendly and fun - remember that I have just completed my own studies and so I know how it feels to be a student! However, I won’t let you get distracted from your work and in particular the goals you want to achieve – that’s why you pay me right?
My approach helps you to understand exactly what is expected of you in your course. This is critical when it comes to a degree, as there are many students who produce great work but receive poor marks - simply because they don’t understand what is expected of them from the examiners and marking conventions.
Our first lesson will begin with me listening to you and your story. Your course or subject, where and why you are studying, how your grades have been and where you wish them to be – all of this matters because it is important for me to understand who you are as an individual. These details help you to be honest about what you want and in return they support me as I try to improve your results. Next, I will examine your work - reading a sample or looking over a past paper - so that I can understand your level and see where best I can help improve your scores. Remember, at this stage, you won't have paid me a single penny (as the tutor I receive zero percentage of the Finders Fee). I believe it is fair to offer a first free lesson as you can then choose to walk away if you feel it is not the right fit for you. I also offer tutoring at a reasonable price and would encourage you to be careful about working with other tutors who do not have my experience or degrees from outstanding universities and are still charging an excessive amount for tutoring - please don't overpay tutors who are simply not worth it.
In our subsequent sessions we will then begin working on what you need the most support with. From previous experience, this could include: improving your writing style / structure and planning / answering precise research questions / closer analysis of sources and bringing your papers up a few levels with extra tweaks / extra tutoring in specific subject areas. All of this will of course be worked through in open discussion with you and planned to suit you and your specific needs.
Lastly, I am happy to meet in-person or online. I have a flexible schedule and will do my best to work with a timetable that suits you.
