I am currently a Lecturer and Personal Academic Tutor at a leading university in London. I hold a PhD in Linguistics from the University of York, an MA in Applied Linguistics from Sorbonne University, and a BA in Linguistics from Angers University in France. Additionally, I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. After completing my PhD, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at a Russell Group university. I have extensive research experience and have published articles in peer-reviewed, indexed journals on various topics related to education and second/third language acquisition.
I have over eighteen years of experience teaching French, English as a Foreign Language, and study skills. Throughout my career, I have taught French at various educational levels, including primary, GCSE, and A-Level, as well as to adult casual learners. In addition, I have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language to students from diverse linguistic backgrounds. I also enjoy teaching study skills and have supported students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including those from home and international backgrounds.
• Study skills — Undergraduate and postgraduate students
I provide comprehensive academic support, including assistance with planning assignments, structuring essays, and formulating effective exam responses. I also offer tailored guidance for the successful completion of dissertations, particularly in conducting literature reviews, analysing data, compiling bibliographies, and editing written work to enhance clarity, coherence, and academic quality.
• French — Primary, GCSE, A-Level, and Adult Casual Learners:
I have extensive experience teaching the French language and culture at various educational levels. I have taught French at universities in the UK as well as at Alliance Française centres. While at Alliance Française, I have worked with both adult and child learners. My approach emphasizes developing learners' proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while also promoting cultural awareness. I tailor my teaching to meet the needs of both young learners and adults, whether for academic purposes or personal enrichment.
• English as a Second/Foreign Language:
I have taught English as a second and foreign language to a diverse range of learners from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds. My teaching focuses on developing communicative competence, as well as academic writing and critical reading skills. I design and deliver tailored instruction to enhance learners' fluency, accuracy, and confidence in using English for both everyday communication and academic purposes.
I always create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students are at the centre of the learning process. Based on my experience working with diverse learners, I use a variety of teaching approaches to address each student's unique needs. This flexibility enables students to identify and apply the learning strategies that best support their academic progress and success.
