I am an undergraduate student at the University of Aberdeen. I recently won the Black Prize, for the best Latin scholar, having taken Latin courses throughout the academic year. Two years ago I had little Latin, so I know that it is possible to make significant progress in a relatively short period of time.
I have completed more than a hundred hours of teaching English as a foreign language. I also have hundreds of hours of Latin self-study under my belt. Moreover, I have been lucky enough to have an excellent Latin tutor myself, from whom I have learnt how to teach Latin.
I teach using the traditional method of Grammar Translation. Therefore, Grammar (syntax and morphology) is the main focus of my teaching. Students who study with me, however, learn Grammar not only through dry rules but also through reading, and enjoying, authentic Latin texts and translating them.
