Hello, my name is Charlotte and I am a part time tutor as well as a secondary school science teacher. I trained as a paediatric nurse and whilst nursing full time I was fully involved in the mentorship teaching programme which taught a wide range of skills through both face to face learning and lecturing. I was also involved in outreach programmes in schools teaching health and social care. After a career break to have my family I converted to teaching science full time. I also completed a BSc in archaeology when my children were small that allowed me to study my fascination with humankind’s interaction with the wider world from a scientific perspective.
I have 10+ years of teaching children through my roles as a paediatric nurse and now as a full time secondary science teacher. Both roles involved engaging young people in learning through a fascinating environment for learning. I have extensive experience in both online and face to face learning, including teaching to individual students.
I have a passion for my subjects and seeing students reach their full potential. I consider every students individual needs and adapt my teaching style accordingly. As a parent myself I know how important this is in creating an appealing and stimulating environment to learn. I will work with students to identify areas of need and apply knowledge as well as teaching effective revision strategies and exam specific advice. I will also use different techniques to utilise retrieval and focus on exam questions with regular feedback for students to build confidence, helping them become effective learners.
